National News Agency

The development and technology committee under the House of Representatives has directed the government to create environment conducive to resume construction of national pride projects.

A meeting of the committee on Wednesday also suggested that the government manage quarantine areas as per need for the workers at projects in view of coronavirus outbreaks and ease the supply of construction materials during lockdown.

There is no alternative to resuming big development projects as workers are finding it hard to survive due to lockdown, the meeting concluded. In moving ahead construction of strategic roads of the country, the governments of all three levels coordinate and the government forwards long term plans to deal with emergency problems facing workers, the committee suggested.

The government should create environment conducive for engaging Nepalis who have returned from foreign countries in agriculture and there is a need to resume production and carry out infrastructural development for sustainable development of the country, said the committee's chair Kalyani Kumari Khadka.
