United Nations: The United Nations has announced that three women journalists from Iran will be awarded the Freedom of the Press Award for their unwavering commitment to truth and accountability.

According to the announcement made on Tuesday night, Elahe Mohammadi is the one who reported the death of 22-year-old Mahsa Amini last September after she was taken into religious police custody for not covering her head properly. After Amini's death, there were protests in dozens of cities in Iran for months.

The third winner is Narges Mohammadi. She has worked in Iran for a long time and is a leading journalist who has been at the forefront for years for press freedom and human rights protection.

The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) World Press Freedom Prize was established in the name of Colombian journalist Guillermo Cano, who was murdered on December 17, 1986.

Journalist Guillermo was killed in front of the office of his newspaper El Espectador. Since 1987, World Press Freedom Day has been celebrated every year on May 3.
