Minister calls for tobacco-free new generation

Minister for Health and Population Bhanubhakta Dhakal has stressed for making new generation free from the use of tobacco and nicotine.

In a message toady on the occasion of the World No Tobacco Day, Minister Dhakal has called all to remain proactive from their respective sectors to make the people of new generation free of tobacco and nicotine.

He said it was our common responsibility to encourage the newcomers not to use tobacco and to discourage them for the consumption and use of tobacco products to remain healthy and live long. Dhakal also stressed the need for full implementation of existing Acts, laws and directives to avoid the tobacco products.

The No Tobacco Day-2020 is being marked across the world today with the theme of “Protecting youth from industry manipulation and preventing them from tobacco and nicotine use.

” According to a World Health Organization report, the infection of coronavirus is severe among the tobacco products users. Likewise, WHO states that 8 million people die of tobacco consumption every year and the tobacco intake is also the main reason for lung diseases, respiratory related problems and others.
